The Rukus

The Rukus family is a diverse crew of cats from all over the country. Currently, emcees KeithElite and Rudy Rude are recording tracks and reppin’ for the crew in Tampa, FL. Rude was born in Tampa and KeithElite was born in Yonkers, NY. They have both lived all over the place being in military families. They began as a crew in high school in the mid 90’s when they lived overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Being military kids, moving around all the time, and living overseas opened their eyes to a lot of different things that have influenced their music and their lives beyond explanation. Since leaving Japan, they linked up here in Tampa and continued that bond that was created when they were kids.

They strive to create music that speaks on their lives and how they see things, unlike a lot of rappers these days who they feel try to sound like the next man. They are avoiding the pattern of the mainstream, as they feel that so many mainstream artists just give the people false images of what life is really about. The Rukus shows no fear in just being them selves.

Rudy Rude is behind the production, the mic, and the mixing boards and KeithElite is the emcee that's always down to freestyle and battle if necessary (Battle Basics 4 and 6 participant).

The Rukus is always down to network with other musicians who have the same vision and focus about music as they do. You can catch them rockin’ shows around town and supporting the growing scene at local spots around Tampa.

They are currently working on completing their untitled full length album that should be released in 2006.
